AFW | Press Release | Cancellation

Dear ATHENS FLYING WEEK family,

It is with great regret that we announce that this year’s Athens Flying Week (September 19 & 20, 2020) will not take place due to the insurmountable obstacles caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

This decision was not taken lightly, but after weeks of reviewing all possible options and scenarios. Unfortunately, the unprecedented health conditions and measures to reduce the spread of the epidemic leave us with no choice but to cancel this year’s Air Show.

We understand that this decision changes your planning and we are very sorry for the inconvenience. The health and safety of visitors, employees, crews, and all those who love Athens Flying Week have always been our top priority and based on our commitment to these values, we have decided that the only realistic scenario is to cancel Athens Flying Week 2020.

Athens Flying Week is based on a wide range of professionals and means, such as transport aircraft and their crews, rescuers and doctors of various specialties, but also on a significant part of the state mechanism that currently offers its services in dealing with the health crisis.

Ticket holders can contact Viva at support@viva.gr and choose whether to refund the amount or transfer their ticket for 2021.

We would like to thank all our partners, the General Staff of National Defense, the Hellenic Air Force, Air Forces of the countries participating in the event, aviators, crews, engineers, and of course we would like to thank all of you, the family of Athens Flying Week, for your love and support all these years.

We promise that we will return stronger in 2021, with the organization better and more impressive than ever.
Until then, protect yourself, take care of your loved ones and think positive.

Chairman of the Athens Flying Week Organizing Committee,
Panagiotis Podimatas
